Salmon makes appearance for Bihu

With Magh Bihu celebrations going on full swing, Bipanan Khetra at Six Mile, Guwahati has brought Salmon, the costliest fish in the world for the occasion.

According to reports, sellers have brought six Salmons from Norway each costing around 14 to 15 thousand rupees and they are witnessing long queues to buy those foreign fish variety. It is purely a new nobility for Magh Bihu.

They have also brought Octopus and Crab along with other Assamese indigenous items.

Interestingly, the stalls at Bipanan Khetra have used 13,000 coconuts so far with 84 cooks making pithas for almost 12 to 14 hours per day. It may be noted that the average sale is around Rs. 12 lakh a day and has reached around Rs. 29 lakh in two and half day selling pitha, laru and all the delicacy.
