SEBA Introduces Commerce in its Syllabus

The Secondary Education Board of Assam (SEBA) has introduced Commercein its syllabus for the first time as the elective subject. The students ofClass IX will now be able to take Commerce as elective subject from 2020.

Launching the new programme 'An Introduction to Commerce', EducationMinister Siddhartha Bhattacharjee said that the Commerce subject will beintroduced in Class X also from 2021. He said that a glimpse of Accountancy,Insurance and Banking has been given in the teaxtbook of Commerce.

A meeting was organized to discuss about the new subject and to launchthe subject at Gauhati Commerce College with the Education minister, officialsof SEBA and teachers.

The education department will also provide five-day training to theteachers of the government schools in the subject.
