Second Wave of Flood Hits Lower Assam Again

Just asAssam was trying to get back its normal life after it reels under heavy floodin almost all the districts, the second wave of flood has hit the lower Assamagain after heavy rainfall and Bhutan water enters into the state.

Districts ofBarpeta, Nalbari, Kamrup etc. again reels under flood. The rising water inMoraPagladia River has created havoc in Tihu area under Nalbari district afterthe heavy wave of water breached the embankment of the River. The villages of Lanka,Sathikuchi, Bokuwajari reels under flood. The SDRF have rescued as manyfamilies as they can on Tuesday night from the flood-hit areas.

On the other hand, Kokrajhar district also reels under flood and Besimari village under Fakiragram police station, Magurmari, Railway Colony, Kokrajhar town, Dotma,Tatara and Gossaigaon areas have been submerged under-water.

Moreover, the rising water of the Pahumara River in Pathsala in Barpeta district was completely submerged under-water due to incessant rainfall overnight. Police and SDRF launched a rescue operation on Tuesday night itself to rescue the trapped families to relief camps.

According to Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), flood-waters again inundated Kokrajhar, Bongaigaon, Chirang, Baksa, Lakhimpur and Dhemaji districts due to heavy rainfall since Monday and also the Bhutan water enters into the state breaching away river embankments in most of the places.

As perASDMA, 659 relief camps are operational in 12 of these districts with 1, 03,934people n the camps.
