Security Beefed Up in City Ahead of I-Day

Security measures have beenintensified across the state in the run up to Independence Day celebration.Security personnel keep close vigil on all important government installations.

Police have launched search operation in waterways, roadways, railwaystations and search expedition has also been launched at Kamakhya railwaystation since Sunday morning.

The police have searched the platform, lounge, trains with the help ofthe sniffer dog so that no untoward incident could take place on or before theIndependence Day.

Guwahati Police Commissioner Deepak Kumar also said earlier that 9 CCTVcameras have been installed in the Khanapara Veterinary playground where the celebrationwill take place.

TheCommissioner said that the ULFA also threatens to attack on the I-Day and thereforesecurity will be tightened so that no untoward incident could take placeand that many areas in Guwahati have been identified as vulnerable.
