Shillong Lawsohtun Attack Case: Police Arrests Two

In a major development, the Shillong Police has arrested two persons in connection with the Lawsohtun assault case where a group of non-tribal boys playing basketball was attacked by certain miscreants.

As per local media reports, the Police arrested Augustine Lyngdoh Nongpyiur and Johnson Nongkhlaw. Both are from the Lawsohtun area of Shillong.

Earlier, reportedly, the Police had picked up 11 people for the purpose of interrogation in relation to the brutal attack on the group.

The incident has been criticized and slammed by various sections of Meghalaya.

CM Conrad Sangma had recently tweeted condemning the grievous assault.

The CM had then tweeted, "I strongly condemn the assault on 5 boys yesterday in Lawsohtun, Shillong. An assault on any citizen of the State irrespective of background or community will not be tolerated. Perpetrators of such heinous crimes will be charged by law. Action will be taken."
