Silchar: Assam Rifles jawan succumbs to COVID-19

An Assam Rifles jawan succumbed to coronavirus infection at Silchar Medical College and Hospital on Sunday midnight.

The deceased has been identified as 46 – year- old SK Bagle. Bagle was an Assam Rifles jawan stationed in Silchar.

The jawan was admitted to SMCH on Saturday night around 11.20 PM and was declared dead at 12.05 AM. He had visible symptoms of COVID-19, reported the health officials.  The jawan was low on oxygen levels that dropped to 35 percent. He will be cremated according to the COVID-19 protocols, the health officials at SMCH said.

The jawan was tested for COVID-19 before his death. So far, five persons have passed away at SMCH.
