Silchar police on Sunday arrested a model in connection with assaulting a pregnant woman on suspicion of selling dog meat. The arrested model was identified as Priya Mazumdar.

According to reports, two vendors, belonging to a tribal community, were assaulted by three local youths including two girls on November 24. The youths suspected that the tribal women had killed a mongrel and were selling its meat at a roadside market in Jail road, Silchar.

The sensational assault was caught in a video that went viral in the social media. The tribal community in the Barak Valley had took to the streets and demanded the arrest of the three accused —Durba Pal, Priya Mazumdar and Sainik Gupta — who were absconding since the incident.

Notably, the pregnant woman suffered a miscarriage following the incident.
