SMCH Employee Commits Suicide

A IV gradeemployee of the blood bank department of Silchar Medical College and Hospital(SMCH) committed suicide on Thursday. Ranadhir Paul (55) was found hanging froma ceiling fan in his bedroom at his residence in Kathal Road of Silchar.

According tosources, Paul also attempted to commit suicide earlier on May 26 night byconsuming poison after he was served a notice against gross anomalies in thedepartment came to light recently. On May 26, he was admitted to SMCH after hetried to commit suicide where he underwent treatment for three days and wasdischarged on May 30.

It has beenalleged that Paul used to stay in the blood bank of the hospital for 24 hoursinstead of his stipulated 8-hour shift which means that he used to do some anomaliesin the department.

Paul was acontractual employee in the hospital.
