Sonowal calls on PM Modi

Amid the rising protest over the privatization of NRL, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Thursday called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the national capital and discussed the Numaligarh Refinery issue. They further discussed the Naga peace accord.

According to reports, Sonowal drew PM's attention to the popular public demand regarding Numaligarh Refinery Limited and sought his cooperation for NRL to maintain its status quo as a public sector undertaking. The CM also urged PM Modi to take into consideration the interests of the people of Assam while going for the accord.

On the other hand, CM Sonowal also invited Prime Minister for the inauguration of Khelo India Youth Games to be held in Guwahati from January 10, 2020. At the same time, Sonowal also requested the PM to attend the Sankardeva Award presentation ceremony.

Earlier, the CM also met Union Home Minister Amit Shahand talked at length of issues.
