Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has inaugurated Gandhi Park atGandhi Mandap in Gandhibasti under the aegis of Kamrup Metro administration andSmart City on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti on Wednesday.
The Gandhi Park has been constructed under the supervision of SmartCity with a cost of Rs. 2crores 56lakhs. The park has been constructed withinsix months.
The park has a newly constructed bridge, a platform and a pathway forthe visitors.
State Education Minister Siddhartha Bhattacharyya, DC Kamrup (M)Biswajit Pegu and other officials of the administration were also present onthe occasion along with the Chief Minister.
The Chief Minister and Education Minister also paid floral tributes toMahatma Gandhi at Gandhi Mandap.
On the other hand, the 150th birth anniversary of MahatmaGandhi has been celebrated in Guwahati along with the rest of the state and FitIndia Plogging has been observed under the aegis of Kamrup Metro districtadministration.
The Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup (M) Biswajit Pegu along with otherofficials have come out for jogging by taking paper bags in hand to createawareness against plastic and to make the city free from plastic.
The officials along with the DC were seen cleaning up plastics bywearing hand gloves.
Moreover, a cycle rally has also been organized from Dighalipukhuriunder the aegis of Assam Tourism to mark the tourism festival from October 2 toOctober 13.
