Special NIA Court convicts 4 in NDFB mass killings case of 2014

A special National Investigation Agency ( NIA) Court on Wednesday convicted four cadres of banned National Democratic Front of Boroland ( NDFB) involved in mass killing that took place in Sonitpur district on night of December 12, 2014.

On December 23 , 2014, cadres of NDFB, a proscribed terrorist organisation, had indiscriminately fired upon the villagers of Santipur village under Rakhakmari Police Out Post in district Sonitpur, Assam. As a result, 06 persons had died on the spot and 02 persons had sustained injuries.

The premier investigation agency of the country was entrusted to investigate the mass killing incident. In this connection, NIA Case RC-04/2014/NIA-GUW was registered u/s 120B/121/147/148/302 of IPC, S. 25[1-A],27 of the Arms Act and S. 10/13/16/18/20 of the UA[P] Act.

Charge Sheet was filed by NIA on 22.07.15 against 4 arrested accused persons viz 1. Sanju Bordoloi alias Sibigiri 2. Bishnu Narzary alias N Berema 3. Ahoy Basumutary alias B Bujumbura 4. Nitul Daimary alias D Naihab. On completion of the trial, the Special NIA Court Guwahati has pronounced verdict on 29.08.2018 convicting all the four accused persons. The hearing on sentence shall take place on September 7th 2018.
