State Election Commission in a written statement has prohibited live telecast of election campaigning by Star campaigners in areas where Panchayat Election will be held in second phase.

Violation of the commission's order will be treated as a violation of Model Code of Conduct, stated the official statement.

Pertaining to the issue, the commissiom further stated that however, such campaign may be allowed as a news item.
