Still Not Hopeful of Error-Free NRC: APW

AssamPublic Works (APW) President Abhijeet Sarma on Tuesday said that they are stillnot 100 percent sure that the final National Register of Citizens (NRC) will beerror free.

Addressinga press conference here in Guwahati, APW President has asked as who will takethe responsibility if the names of foreigners' will include in the NRC. He allegedthat the NRC prepared by Prateek Hajela has not been re-verified.

Sarmafurther stated that Hajela has told the Supreme Court that 27% of the documentshave been re-verified and that it has not been done without the intervention ofthe third party saying that it has been done secretly.

Sarmaalso reiterated that they have submitted five informational affidavit seekingre-verification of NRC but it is unfortunate that the Supreme Court hasdismissed the demand.
