Bharat Ratna: Tej Hazarika Expresses Gratitude

BhupenHazarika's son Tej Hazarika expressed gratitude towards Government of India forconferring Bharat Ratna to his father posthumously.

TejHazarika, while speaking to reporters here in Guwahati on Sunday said that heis grateful that his father has been conferred with the country's highestcivilian award by the Government of India. He also thanked the people of Assamfor the tremendous support.

BhupenHazarika has been conferred the Bharat Ratna posthumously on August 8 byPresident Ram Nath Kovind at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

TejHazarika received the award for his father.

Hazarika,who is now in the city said that he will spend some time with the familymembers in Assam.

Hazarika,while replying to the question whether the memento will be kept in Assam orwill be taken away with him, he said that it will be kept wherever the peopleof Assam wants it to keep. "The memento will be kept wherever people will becomfortable to see," said Tej Hazarika.
