Former Rajya Sabha MP and United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) chief Urkhao Gwra Brahma has been declared as the candidate of the party from Kokrajhar for the coming Lok Sabha Elections.

The decision was taken during the UPPL's meeting on Thursday. Earlier, Assam Social Welfare Minister Pramila Rani Brahma has been declared as BPF's candidate from Kokrajhar. BPF is an ally of BJP-led NDA. Naba Sarania (Independent) is the sitting MP of Kokrajhar.

Interestingly, UG Brahma was awarded with prestigious Sahitya Academy Award for his poetry Udangnifrai Gidingfinnanwi in 2014.
