ULFA (I) Cadre Arrested from Tinsukia

In a jointoperation launched by Pengeri police and army at Tinsukia, a United LiberationFront of Assam (Independent) (ULFA-I) cadre has been arrested on Wednesdaynight.

The ULFA cadrehas been identified as Raktim Gogoi alias Bakhar Axom.

Police informed that Gogoi hails from the Mugong pathar village under Pengeri police station in Tinsukia.

It may also be mentioned that on Wednesday night two IEDs were recovered from two places in Guwahati- Panbazaar and Paltan Bazaar. Police suspected that the IEDs were placed by ULFA ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Kokrajhar on February 7.

However, the IEDs have been diffused by the bomb squad after it was recovered.
