A veteran drug peddler was arrested along with his wife on Wednesday by Dibrugarh police.
Police also seized 44 grams of brown sugar along with 90 small containers containing heroin, weighing around 15 grams.
The operation was conducted based on specific intelligence inputs near Dibrugarh's Graham Bazar near the Polo ground and arrested the drug peddlers – Wasim Hussain and his wife Neha Hussain.
Reportedly, the drugs were seized from the residence of Wasim's in-laws.
Since the formation of the new government this year, Assam police has been proactive in the fight against drugs with many seizures being made through the months.
