Vote for the one who opposes CAB: Mahanta

Pratidin Bureau

The founder-president of Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and former CM of Assam, Prafulla Kumar Mahanta urged the people in the State to cast their votes to those candidates who oppose the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill. "The bill would damage Assam's secular fabric," said Mahanta on Saturday evening while interacting with the media.

Attacking the Prime Minister, the Ex-CM said, "Modi had signed the Indo-Bangla land boundary agreement. Although he had said that there will be no infiltrators in Assam if he comes to power in 2014; the CAB has been introduced by his party."

However, he stated that AGP would not do anything that can harm the people of Assam.

Unhappy over the alliance of AGP and BJP, Mahanta had earlier announced that he would not campaign for any candidate for the upcoming Lok Sabha election.
