11 days from now Assam will have new Chief Secretary as the incumbent Chief Secretary T Y Das's term will come to an end on August 31 but Assam Government has not yet announced a successor.

The Assam Government's most favoured choice Kumar Sanjay Krishna's future got skewed when CBI named him in the Chargesheet of the Aircel-Maxis scam along with P Chidambram.

This chargesheet has jeopardized Dispur's plan of succession leaving it open for number of officers. That included V B Pyarelal of 1983 batch and Ajay Kumar Bhalla (1984), K V Yepen(1984), Alok Kumar (1984), Rajeeb Bora(1985) and Rajeeb Bhalla(1985).

Chief Minister is unlikely to touch Kumar Sanjay Krishna although he was initially the frontrunner, because of the charge sheet. There were murmur of extension being given T Y Das but she was reluctant and would like to gracefully go.

Chief Minister has kept his choice very secret and he is supposed to take a decision in a day or two after returning from New Delhi.

Already required filed had been moved and formal announcement is expected in the next 2-3 days.
