With no outside tourists, Meghalaya hotel owners worried

Pratidin Bureau

Although Meghalaya has reportedly decided to open its hotels from July 1, the hotels owners, as per sources, aren't quite cheerful about the news. As most of the hotel boarders are from other states, the move, it has been learnt, will not be able to provide sufficient succor to the ones in the hospitality sector that has naturally gone for a beating due to the COVID-induced lockdown in the state.

The picturesque state, which depends a lot on tourism, has, however, decided to restrict the entry of tourists from other states in a bid to contain the spread of the contagion within its borders. As per sources, many locals are also supporting the idea of banning the entry of inbound tourists until the threat of the virus goes away.
