Woman delivers child under open sky amid heavy rain

Pratidin Bureau

At a time when Narendra Modi whenever he visits Northeast, talks about how the region is gateway for the development of India and that there has been tremendous amount of development after BJP has come into power both in the state and the centre, a pregnant woman in Majuli had to give birth under the open sky on Thursday.

This terrible incident took place in Luit Khabalu's 'parghat' amid heavy rains. Local female residents helped the woman experiencing excruciating pain to deliver her child.

The woman delivered her child on the way to Majuli Hospital. Local residents with the help of tin and bamboo sheets tried to protect her from the heavy rain at the time of delivery.

Now the question arises, is this the development that the BJP, both at the state and the centre, have been boosting about?  Perhaps, the truth here is that due to the pathetic condition of the roads which make it unsuitable for vehicles to ply and the not so apt medical services has led to this situation today.

It may be noted that Luit Khabalu does not have an appropriate hospital.

Simultaneously, BJP MLA Himanta Biswa Sarma is seen blowing trumpets about health sector's immense development, although the actual the picture is what has happened today in AGP MLA Utpal Dutta's constituency, which has shamed civilization.
