Woman Dies Of Snake Bite

In a shocking incident in Sonari, the body of a woman who died of snake bite was put on a raft and sailed on the river.

The deceased has been identified as Sonari Borahi Tea Estate's Hima Das.

Sources informed that Das was bitten by a snake three-four days ago and since then the family performing religious rituals to treat her.

However, she died later and the family thought that if her body is set free on the river then some person may see it and revive her back.

It may be mentioned here that incident like this is not new in Assam or in India and similar incidents have been reported in the past as well.

It is a popular belief that if a person dies of a snake bite, then the body is sailed on the river with the hope that some local herbal doctor may revive the person from death.
