WWC: Mary Kom and Lovlina to play their semis today

Ace Indian boxer MC Mary Kom and Assam daughter Lovlina Borgohain will play their semi-final bouts of the Women's World Championships in New Delhi on Thursday.

In the 48 kilogram category, Mary Kom, a five-time world champion, will take on Kim Hyang Mi of North Korea. On the other hand, in 69 kilogram category, Lovlina, the 21-year old will meet Chen Nien-chin of Chinese Taipei.

The 35-year-old Mary Kom is currently tied with Katie Taylor on five gold medals and one more will make her the most successful woman in World Championships history since the Irish pugilist has turned Professional.

Lovlina is among the three Indian boxers who have assured their maiden World Championships medals. Besides Mary Kom and Lovlina the other two – Sonia Chahal and Simranjit Kaur – will play their last-4 bouts on Friday.
