Pratidin Time

Assam youth Lieutenant Siddhartha Sinha, who hails from Karimganj, will command his regiment during the Republic Day Parade on Rajpath in New Delhi.

Siddhartha joined the forces on November 21, 2020, and is currently posted in the 16 Madras Engineering Regiment.

The lad from Karimganj studies in an Army School in Hyderabad from class 1-12 as his father was posted there during that period. He completed engineering from the Madras Engineering College before joining the Army.

Siddhartha’s father, Laxmikanta Sinha devoted 30 years of his life in the Army before retiring.

Every year in India, on January 26, the Republic Day parade stays a centre of attraction for all its citizens and the global audience.

The celebration begins with the unfurling of the tricolour by the president, followed by the marching from several regiments of Armed Forces—Army, Navy, and Air Force, along with their bands.

The celebrations conclude with the Indian Beating Retreat ceremony performed by the bands of the Armed Forces. The ceremony is conducted on the evening of January 29, the third day after Republic Day.
