All higher education institutions of the country have been advised to take classes six days a week to make up for the loss of learning hours due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Moreover, there will be a curtailment of breaks and vacations.

This finds mention in the revised academic calendar approved by the UGC this month.

Furthermore, it has been mentioned that the classes for first year students would start from November. It has also been decided to disallow any new admission after November 30.

The Education Ministry took to twitter to announce, "In view of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Commission has accepted the report of the committee and approved the UGC guidelines on the academic calendar for the First Year of Under-Graduate and Post-Graduate Students of the Universities for the Session 2020-21."

It also said, "To avoid financial hardship being faced by the parents due to lockdown and related factors, a full refund of fees will be made on account of all cancellation of admissions/ migration of students, up to 30.11.2020, for this very session as a special case."
