Amit Shah pays tribute at National Police Memorial

The newlyappointed Home Minister under Narendra Modi's Cabinet for the second term AmitShah paid tribute at the National Police Memorial in Delhi today after he tookoath on May 30 for the first time as a cabinet minister.

Amit Shahtakes over the Home Ministry from Rajnath Singh who has been given charge ofDefence Ministry. Shah, who has been known for his ability to take toughdecisions is expected to give new shape not only to many aspects of internalsecurity but also dynamics as far as relations with neighbouring countriesespecially Pakistan are concerned. He will also play a crucial role as the homeminister in defining the centre's relationship with states.

The unionhome minister's biggest challenge is Jammu and Kashmir as he had promisedvoters during the election that the PM-Modi-led BJP would annul Article 35A ofthe Constitution because it discriminates against 'non-permanent residents andwomen of Jammu and Kashmir.' Shah also called for the abolition of Article 370which allows the state a separate flag and constitution.

The newlyappointed home minister will also linger on illegal immigration saying thatillegal immigrants are like termites. He said that they are eating the grainthat should go to the poor and taking our jobs.
