Asian Games Update: 16 year old Saurabh brings third Gold for India

Indian bagged one gold and one bronze medal in the Men's 10 metre Air Pistol event at the 18th Asian Games in Indonesia on Tuesday.

16-year-old Saurabh Chaudhary clinched gold and Abhishek Verma claimed Bronze. With 240.7 points to finishing above Japan's Tomoyuki Matsuda, Saurabh claimed the Asian Games Record.

Chaudhary, son of a farmer based in Kalina Village in Meerut, became the fifth Indian shooter to claim a gold in the Asian Games history, beating a field of multiple world and Olympic champions in the 10 metre air pistol finals in Palembang.

In the Men's 50-metres Rifle 3 Positions event, Sanjeev Rajput has qualified for the finals. Shreyasi Singh and Lakshay are featuring in the Mixed Team Trap category.

In shooting, India has won 1 Gold, 2 Silver and 2 Bronze of the 7 medals so far. The other two medals have come from Wrestling, which is one Gold by Bajrang Punia and the other is also a Gold which was bagged by Vinesh Phogat on Monday.

India is currently seventh in the medals tally. China continues to be at the top, with Japan second and South Korea third.
