Bhupesh Baghel appointed as new CM of Chhattisgarh

Bhupesh Baghel has been chosen to be the new chief minister of Chhattisgarh from among four strong contenders Congress, four days after the party came to power in the assembly elections.

All India Congress Committee (AICC) observer Mallikarjun Kharge formally announced the name of Baghel as the leader of the Congress legislature party (CLP) at a meeting of the newly elected legislators at the state party headquarters in Raipur today.

The Chattisgarh Congress Chief, Baghel will be sworn as the chief minister by Governor Anandiben Patel at a function to be held at science college grounds in state capital Raipur on Monday evening.

With only 15 seats, the BJP suffered a big defeat in Chhattisgarh while the Congress won in 68 seats in the 90-member assembly.
