Pratidin Bureau

In a sensational revelation by CBI in the Supreme Court onFriday, 11 girls were allegedly murdered by key accused Brajesh Thakur and hisaccomplices and "bundle of bones" recovered from a burial ground inthe Muzaffarpur shelter home sexual abuse case.

In its affidavit filed in the top court, CBI stated thatfrom the statement of victims recorded during the probe, names of 11 girls haveemerged, who were said to be allegedly murdered by Thakur and his accomplices.

The CBI probe into the home run by main accused BrajeshThakur, who flaunted his connections, makes for a depressing account ofhelpless young girls, not missed even in death. The probe into the case wastransferred to CBI and the agency has charge sheeted 21 people, includingThakur. The inmates, who have spoken of sexual exploitation and missing girls, have given CBI only 11 names.

The matter came up for hearing on Friday before a benchcomprising Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justice Deepak Gupta. CBI said in theaffidavit filed on an application which had alleged that it had not conducted aproper probe in the case.

The agency's affidavit came on an application by socialactivist Nivedita Jha who alleged that the CBI was trying to protect Thakur andother accused despite the statements of victims.

On scrutiny of the details of these 11 girls entered in themaster register (of shelter home), it was found that there were a total of 35girls with identical/similar names who at one time or the other stayed atBalika Grih, Muzaffarpur.

The petitioner has claimed in her application that the CBIwas trying to "shield the real perpetrators" and has intentionallyavoided to investigate the leads given by the victims about the outsiders andalleged friends of Brajesh Thakur who were involved in the offence.

The petitioner also claimed that victims have stated intheir statement to CBI that they were sent to hotels and were also raped byoutsiders and friends of Brajesh Thakur who visited the shelter home.
