Pratidin Bureau

TheBharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday staged a nationwide protest demandingCongress leader Rahul Gandhi's apology on his remark against Prime MinisterNarendra Modi on the Rafale issue.

BJPworking president JP Nadda said that the Congress raised questions on thetransparency of defense deals in India. "During Lok Sabha polls, Rahul Gandhiused abusive language 'chowkidar…' for an honest Prime Minister Narendra Modiand tried to create confusion among the people," PTI quoted Syed ShahnawazHussain, BJP national spokesman, as saying in Patna.

According to reports, the BJP workers in Kolkata tore and defaced posters of Rahul Gandhi and demanded an apology from him over his remarks on Rafale verdict.

It may be mentioned here that the three-judge bench of the Supreme Court comprising Chief Justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi, Justices SK Kaul and KM Joseph on Thursday gave a clean chit to the Modi government in the matter and rejected the petitions for a review of its earlier order. The apex court had also warned Rahul Gandhi to be careful in the future while dismissing a defamation case filed against him for wrongly linking his 'chowkidar chor hai' jibe with the court's judgment.
