‘Boycott Chinese Food’, says Union Minister Athawale

Pratidin Bureau

Union Minister for Social Justice Ramdas Athawale has asked people to stop eating Chinese food and boycott Made-in-China products as Indians rage against China after a violent face-off in Ladakh that led to casualties.

The Union Minister told news agency ANI, "My suggestion is that restaurants and hotels that sell Chinese food should be shut down. I also request those who eat Chinese food to stop eating them, boycott them".

"In such a time when our 20 soldiers were killed by the Chinese and they disrespected us, my request is that everyone should stop eating Chinese food. All the states must give an order to ban Chinese restaurants and hotels," the Union Minister told ANI.

The Republican Party of India leader, earlier this year was seen in a video shouting "go corona, go corona" in February.

"They should stop doing these activities. They have no right to come on our border, 'Humare aangan me unka kya kaam hai ? If we are not attempting to control your area, why are you doing so?" he added.

Indian and Chinese soldiers were involved in a violent face-off in eastern Ladakh's Galwan valley on Monday night.
