CBI action in WB disrupts Parliament proceedings

Pratidin Bureau

The proceedings in both the Houses of Parliament have been disrupted by the uproar over CBI's action in West Bengal and have been adjourned for the day.

All India Trinamool Congress MP Saugata Roy raised the issue in the parliament and said that the BJP-led Central government has been continuously using CBI to trouble the opposition. Roy said that after opposition's rally in Kolkata, BJP is worried and misusing the institute.

Congress leader Mallikatrjun Kharge also said, "Centre is using the CBI as a weapon to finish the opposition."

On the other hand, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh defended CBI's action against Kolkata Police Commissioner and said that the officer was not cooperating in the Saradha chit fund scam and failed to reply to repeated summons. He termed the Kolkata Police action against CBI officials as unlawful and unprecedented.
