CBSE declares results of Class 10 board examinations

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has declared the results of Class 10 board examinations on Tuesday which was earlier said would be declared at 4 pm.

The exam was conducted at 17,567 schools and 4,460 exam centres and around 16,24,682 students had appeared for the examination out of which 14,08,594 passed. The overall pass percentage this year is 86.70 %. Female candidates with 88.67 pass percentage have outshined male candidates with 85.32 pass percentage by 3.35 %.

Scoring 499 out of 500 marks, four students – Prakhar Mittal of DPS, Gurgaon; Rimjhim Agarwal of RP Public School, Bijnor; Nandini Garg of Scottish International School, Shamli; and Sreelakshmi G of  Bhavan's Vidyalaya, Cochin have topped the list.

In India, Thiruvananthapuram has the highest pass percentage with 99.60 % followed by Chennai with 97.37 % and Ajmer at the third position with 91.86 pass percentage.

In the Guwahati region, 63098 had appeared for the examinations and have a pass percentage of 62.29 %. Female candidates have a pass percentage of 62.21 and male candidates have a pass percentage of 62.35 %.

Union HRD minister Prakash Javadekar, congratulating the students said, "We congratulate all students who emerged successful in board examinations for class 10. It is almost after a decade that board examinations for class 10 have been held. And, this examination tests one's capacity. It is the preparation for class 12th and should be seen like that".
