CJI Gogoi recommends Justice Bobde as his successor

The Chief Justice of India, Ranjan Gogoi, on Friday wrote a letter to the Centre and recommended Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde as his successor. Justice SA Bobde is the second senior-most judge of the Supreme Court.

Accordingto reports, CJI Gogoi wrote the letter to the Ministry of Law and Justicerecommending Justice Bobde to be the next Chief Justice.

CJIGogoi, who took oath on October 3, 2018, will retire from the office onNovember 17.

Justice Bobde, who is a former Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court is likely to take oath as 47th CJI on November 18.
