CM Mehbooba Mufti submits resignation minutes after BJP ends coalition government in J&K

Following BJP's decision to pull out of a coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir, the state's Chief Minister from Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mehbooba Mufti has submitted her resignation to Governor NN Vohra.

BJP's decision to pull out of the alliance came in as a surprise for CM Mehbooba Mufti and all others at PDP. Soon after learning about the decision, the CM rushed to Raj Bhawan and called an immediate meeting of the PDP.

Following all the developments, the state is set to come under the governor's rule.

"Continuation of the BJP in the government had become untenable."We have, therefore, decided to pull out of the ruling coalition," BJP leader Ram Madhav said.

Madhav added that keeping in mind the integrity of the country, BJP took the decision to end the coalition as security situation in J&K has worsen in the recent past.

Meanwhile, all BJP ministers of the state have sent their resignations to the Governor.
