Deadline for linking PAN with Aadhaar extended till March 31, 2019

Pratidin Bureau

Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has extended the deadline linking the PAN details with Aadhaar till March 31 next year.

The policy-making body of the tax department issued an order last night extending the deadline. The CBDT had last extended the deadline in March this year.

This is the fifth time the government has extended the deadline for individuals to link their Permanent Account Number to biometric ID Aadhaar.

In 2017, the government had changed the income tax law to mandate that tax payers quote their Aadhaar number to get a new PAN card and to file income tax returns while existing PAN card holders were also required to complete the process to link their Aadhaar numbers.
