‘Focus is on trade relations’: Modi-Xi meet

The second informal summit betweenPrime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Mamallapuramis underway.

The focus of the meeting is likelyto improve people-to-people contact, enhancing trade and on how to maintainpeace and tranquillity along the 3,500-kilometre-long India-China border.

After nearly two-and-a-half hours of"open and cordial" one-on-one free-wheeling talks on Friday, PrimeMinister Narendra Modi and Chinese president Xi Jinping met today inMamalllapuram to continue their talks.

Following the one-on-one meeting,India and China will hold delegation level talks including top officials. Thetwo sides will also issue separate statements on the outcomes of the two-dayinformal summit between PM Modi and President Xi.

In the talks, India and China arelikely to try finding ways of bolstering counter-terror cooperation, enhancetrade and cooperation between militaries along the 3,500 km border.
