Journalist arrested for sharing objectionable post

A journalist was arrested on Saturday forsharing an 'objectionable' post against Uttar Pradesh chief minister YogiAdityanath on social media, as said by the police officials familiar with thematter .

Prashant Kanojia is the accused journalist andFIR was registered against him by a sub-inspector at Hazratganj police stationon Friday night in which it was alleged that the Delhi based journalist made"objectionable comments against the chief minister and tried to demean hisimage".

Senior superintendent of police (SSP) ofLucknow Kalanidhi Naithani said charges under Section 500 of the Indian PenalCode (IPC) for making defamatory comments and Section 66 of the IT Act for postingobjectionable comments on social media were slapped on Kanojia. He also addedthat a few people were being questioned in the matter.

According to anews agency, Kanojia had shareda video on Twitter and Facebook where a woman is seen speaking to reporters ofvarious media organisations outside the chief minister's office claiming thatshe had sent a marriage proposal to Adityanath.

Lucknow Police said in a press release issuedlate in the night that  Kanojia has nottold about his association with any news agency during interrogation. Probe is goingon in the matter.
