Locals block Kanhaiya Kumar’s convoy

Pratidin Bureau

CPI candidate Kanhaiya Kumar's convoy was stopped by some locals at his constituency- Begusarai in Bihar on Wednesday. The locals gheraoed Kanhaiya and sought clarification on the slogan 'Bharat ke tukde tukde', that has been raised at an event organised in JNU back in 2016. The CPI candidate was the president of the JNU Students' Union at that time.

"The poor don't want Azaadi (freedom). It is good that you wanted to become a politician but you need to give answers. Why were you opposed to reservation to economically backward class," locals asked the CPI candidate.

Kanhaiya is contesting against BJP candidate and Union Minister Giriraj Singh and Tanvir Hassan of the RJD. He had filed his nominations from the seat on April 9. Few days ago, bollywood actress Swara Bhasker also campaigned for Kanhaiya.
