Manmohan Singh Releases Coffee Table Book

FormerPrime Minister Manmohan Singh released a coffee table book on Tuesday 'SomeStories Left Untold' on his contributions towards the development of Assamduring his tenure as a Rajya Sabha member representing the state since 1991.

Releasingthe book, Singh said that India needs young people to take over the managementand development of the country.

The coffeetable book was brought out by the Hiteswar Saikia Foundation, which is nowbeing run by the former chief minister's son.

Anumber of senior Congress leaders, including Kumari Selja, Debabrata Saikia andSushmita Dev were present on the occasion.

Speakingabout Debabrata Saikia, Singh said that India needs young people like Debabratato lead the country in years to come, the youth must take over the managementand development of our country.

He furthersaid, "It is not for me to comment on the quality of the book, but I mustcompliment Manjit Kumar for having done the first rate job for documenting allthe events associated with my innings in the development of Assam from 1991onward. I must compliment him for the detailed analysis, documentation that isthe hallmark of this coffee table book."

Singhalso reiterated that they took charge of him at a time when no other state waswilling to offer him a seat in the Parliament. This is therefore, an honourthat they have done to him which he would never be able to forget.
