Pratidin Bureau

In yet another horrifying and heinous incident, a 12-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped and killed by three men at Ratlam in Madhya Pradesh.

The girl reportedly went missing after she had gone out to buy groceries on Saturday evening. As reported, she was gang-raped before being drowned and killed.

Ratlam district SP Gaurav Tiwari said in a press conference on Monday that the three accused – Kallu, Deepak and Ravi – who were earlier arrested have fessed up to the crime. All three work as cattle grazers and hail from the village Gujjarwada.

A report by India Today quoted Tiwari as saying, "The three men were seen consuming liquor in the area around the time the girl went missing. During interrogation, they confessed to the crime."

It was informed by the Police that the body of the deceased was found in a maize field on Sunday. They also found her slippers and the goods she had earlier bought at a distance from there.

As per the Police, the three accused took the victim to a field and raped her by turns.

She was then forcefully taken to a nearby pond and her head was pushed inside until she choked to death. The culprits then dragged her body to the maize field before fleeing the spot.

The SP further said, "We are treating this as a rarest of rare heinous crime and will be filling a chargesheet in the next 15 days. We will try for conviction in the next six months."
