Mizoram: Rs 6 Cr Worth Drugs Seized, 1 Held

Pratidin Bureau

Heroin worth around 6 crores was recovered by the Border Security Force (BSF) on Friday evening in Mizoram's Kolasib district. A man was also apprehended in connection with the case.

The paramilitary soldiers laid a trap at Chhinluang village along National Highway-306, after receiving a tip-off. They were able to arrest a 47 year old peddler identified as Ramneithanga. They also recovered 808.6 grams of heroin in his possession, according to a BSF spokesperson.

The peddler and the seized substances have been handed over to the Excise and Narcotics department for further action under Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The Officials are inclined to think that the drugs were smuggled in from neighboring Myanmar.
