TheSupreme Court on Thursday asked the Election Commission (EC) to decide beforeMay 6 on the 9 complaints of the Congress party alleging violations of ModelCode of Conduct (MCC) by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president AmitShah.

TheEC told the SC bench headed by CJI Ranjan Gogoi that it has already took itsdecision on two out of the 11 complaints filed by the Congress against PM Modiand Shah for alleged violation of MCC. The SC bench also comprised Justice DeepakGupta and Justice Sanjiv Khanna.

"The remaining representations of the petitioners shall be decided by the Election Commission before we hear the matter again on Monday (May 6)," said the SC bench.

Earlier, in an appeal to the top court, Congress's MP from Silchar, Sushmita Dev alleged that PM Modi and Amit Shah used "hate speech" at rallies to polarise voters, and referred to the operations by the armed forces in their "political propaganda" despite the poll body's ban.
