Nepal to begin trains connecting Kathmandu-India-China

Nepal President Bidhya Devi Bhandari on Friday saidthat country is planning to construct a railways linking Kathmandu with Indiaand China within two years.

Nepal President informed that the preparation willsoon start for the detailed Project Reports of Birgunj-Kathmandu andRasuwagadhi-Kathmandu railways, connecting Kathmandu to both India and China byrailways.

The President is of the view that the first trans-borderrailway between Nepal and India will be planned in the upcoming fiscal year.

"Railway service will be made operationalwithin the next fiscal year at Jayanagar- Bijalpura and from Bathnaha, India toBiratnagar. The construction of the railway at Bijalpura-Bardibas segment willbe completed", the president added.

The completion of technical studies for theconstruction of railways linking both the neighbouring countries has beencompleted in collaboration with the two concerned countries.

Bhandari also unveiled the plan for generatingnearly 500,000 employment opportunities in the upcoming fiscal year. Governmentis also closely working to operate the Gautam Buddha Airport by 2019 andPokhara International Airport by 2021.
