Over 30 Lakh Central Govt Employees To Get Bonus

Ahead of Dusshera and Durga Puja, over 30 lakh central government employees will be receiving a bonus for 2019-20, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar said on Wednesday to various news outlets after a cabinet meeting.

Chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the cabinet during the meeting gave its nod to approval was given for Productivity Linked Bonus or PLB for the year 2019-20.

"Union Cabinet approves productivity linked bonus and non-productivity linked Bonus for 2019-2020. More than 30 lakh non-gazetted employees will be benefited by the bonus announcement and total financial implication will be rupees 3,737 crores," Prakash Javadekar said.

"This PLB will benefit 16.97 lakh non-gazetted employees of commercial establishments like Railways, Posts, Defense, EPFO, ESIC. Non-PLB or ad-hoc bonus is given to Non-Gazetted Central Government employees, from which 13.70 lakh employees will also benefit," the minister added.

Earlier in October, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman declared rupees 73,000 crore demand push to the economy. The LTC cash voucher scheme and special festival advance scheme were introduced for the central government and public sector employees.
