PM Modi third most followed leader on Twitter, second most influential

According to a global study, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the third most followed leader on Twitter after US President Donald Trump and Pope Francis.

A 2018 study "Twiplomacy" by Burson Cohn and Wolfe states that though the Indian PM is third in terms of followers (42 million) after President Donald Trump (52 million) and Pope Francis (47 million), he is second in terms of influence on the micro-blogging site.

PM Modi's institutional account @PMOIndia has claimed the fourth spot with over 26 million followers while the institutional account of President Trump @POTUS claimed the fifth spot with 23 million followers. @WhiteHouse ranks sixth with 17 million followers.

India's External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj is the most followed female world leader and the most followed foreign minister in the world, with 11 million followers on Twitter.
