Rain devastates Kerala

Very Heavy rain has devastated most of Northern and central Kerala. Warning has been sounded in four districts Idukki, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad, which is the worst hit.

Defence, State and National disaster forces are undertaking relief operations in full swing.

Most of the rivers of the river are in spate, flooding nearby areas. Water levels in dams have also risen. People are being evacuated from danger prone areas.

Schools and colleges have been ordered to remain shut in all 14 districts of the state today. Officials informed that no university exam will be held today.

Major landslide is being reported from Meppady in Waynad. Several people are reportedly missing. A large part of the area had been washed away.

Flight operations had been suspended till Sunday Kochi Airport had been flooded.

According to reports, thunderstorm with wind speed up to 50 kmph has been forecast to hit Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam and Thrissur.
