Rains and thunderstorm kill 31 in MP, Gujarat and Rajasthan

At least 31 people have been killed in Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Rajasthan as rain and thunderstorm knocked parts of these States on Tuesday causing widespread damage to properties.

16 people died in Madhya Pradesh, while in nine people lost their lives in Gujarat. Similarly, six deaths were reported from Rajasthan.

Meanwhile expressing grief over the loss of live due to rains and storms, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh each from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund for the family members of those who lost their lives.

The Prime Minister's Office tweeted this morning, "PM @narendramodi has expressed grief at the loss of lives due to unseasonal rains and storms in MP, Rajasthan, Manipur & various parts of the country. The government is doing its best to provide all possible assistance to those affected. The situation is being monitored closely."
