The Cabinet on Wednesday cleared a fresh bill to ban instant triple talaq. This was informed by Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar.

This bill will replace an ordinance issued in February earlier this year by the previous BJP-led NDA government.

"The fresh triple talaq bill will be introduced in the budget session of Parliament, which begins on Monday," Javadekar informed.

It may be mentioned here with the dissolution of the 16th Lok Sabha in May, the bill lapsed as it could not be passed by Parliament and was pending in Rajya Sabha.
