Heroin Worth Rs 2.5 Cr Seized in Tripura's Unakoti, 3 Arrested

In a special operation conducted by the Assam Rifles and Tripura Police, heroin worth Rs 2.5 crores were seized and three persons were arrested in connection to the case in the state’s Unakoti district, reports said on Wednesday.

According to a statement issued by the Assam Rifles, based on specific information, the operation was conducted at Kumarhat area of Unakoti district on Tuesday night.

According to information, 50 cases of brown sugar weighing 551 grams were seized from a vehicle during the search.

The arrested persons have been identified as Bishma Debbarma, Budhiram Debbarma and Jestha Debbarma.

Taking to Twitter, the Unakoti district Police said, “In a special drive against Nesha Mukht Tripura,SP Unakoti,SDPO Kumarghat,OC Kumarghat & other officers recovered 50 cases of brown sugar weighing 551 gms worth Rs 2.5 cr aprx from a vehicle around 91 Miles Naka.Also arrested 03 APs & specific case is registered.”
